i was wondering if two Fluval 405 is enough i'm going to stock about 10 2" umbee's to find a pair then the other eight is going back
so is this good or do i need more?

if after you get a pair it will only be the 2 umbees then you have plenty of filtration could always add a ac110 or some large hydro sponges as well

I really like the 405's and have a number of them on our smaller tanks but for the 240 we decided to go with an FX5 along with a pair of modified emporer 400's. One of the features most often overlooked about the newer designed cannister filters like the FX5 is the ability to backflush the mechanical portion of the filter without opening it. This can be used during water changes and greatly decreases the time you spend cleaning out filters.

great thanx all
right now i'm running 2 tetra tec 500 and there doing great but i hate cleaning those things, btw what are ac110

The AC 110 is a rather simple and effective HOB filer. Personally I prefur the Emporers as they are a much better bio filter. The main advantage of the AC's over most other HOB is the ability to use cleanable media and also to select the mix you want. (I do the same thing with the emporers and no longer buy pre made cartrages.) It's a bit of a trade off... Filters that remove a lot of debris from the water are high maintance however lower maintance filters wont ever keep the tank as clean. The secret IMO is not so much the ammount of maintance but rather the ease of maintance. (Anything thats harder to do will get done a lot less often in the real world.)
