24 Water Changer

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
To answer your question, "is it cheaper?". No, it will be exactly the same if it is set up to change the same amount of water you are changing now.

As far as how many GHP should it be set up to drip. That is totally up to you. How often do you do water changes now and how much do you change? With that info then the GPH question can be answered.

i do water changes whenever my nitrates get about 20ppm.

you will win time with a drip system.
If you change 50% of the water weekly, taking 2 hours, you will win 104 hours in a year.

It's up to you if that's worth making / buying a drip system.

Not sure why you're bumping. I think you have the answers in this thread already.

Q: On a 900gallon tank how many gph should drip?
A: How often do you do water changes now and how much do you change? With that info then the GPH question can be answered.

Q: Is it cheaper to run one of these then to just do water changes
A: No, it will be exactly the same if it is set up to change the same amount of water you are changing now.

Say you change 40 gallons a week.
24 x 7 = 168

40 / 168 = 0.238gph.

So.... with a 1/2 gph drip emitter, you would roughly be changing twice as much water per week.
