I read a lot of bad reviews on that one when I was shopping for one. I ended up getting a 36 watt Coralife Turbo Twist for my tank. If money is a factor, check out your local Lowes pond section. They'll have a 9 watt UV Sterilizer for around $60. They work great, it cleared my pond up in less than a week. You'll need a pump for the Lowes unit though.

Also, check on replacement bulb prices when shopping for a UV Sterilizer. The prices can vary greatly and it should be factored in as part of the total cost. For instance, the bulb for my Turbo Twist is almost $60. The bulb for the Lowes UV is $15.

How big is your tank?
 
90 and 300. wanting one for both actually but probably the 90 first. you running the 36 watt on your 190? you think that would be adequate for my 300? I could put one of the lowes ones on my xp3 return on the 90.....
