Ie.. flow and water current being the optimal result for this size tank. I want to creat a flow that is strong enough for them to get exercise. Any thought's Ideas?

I use black estes marine sand. I have heard the moon said can lose it's black, but I've never used it. The estes is a large sand that doesn't move a lot when big strong fish make big movements. It cleans fairly easily with a gravel vac.
I would use two 1200gph to power a good sized sump and then a 1000gph power head/pump in the tank.
I use 2x3600 to powe the sump of my 450g and a 9.5 and 5 in the tank for current. When I first added them you could see the fish had to get used to the new current. They must have had to actually work at it get used to the movement.
