Just got confirmation on a 240g for $800.00 Lights and no stand. Not a bad deal for a future home for my P bass. Lot's of swimming room.

Heres a few pics.

So I need advice on what the best black sand would be? And I am also looking for the best P bass set up I can get. Ie.. flow and water current being the optimal result for this size tank. I want to creat a flow that is strong enough for them to get exercise. Any thought's Ideas?

look for moon sand, supposed to be a nice black sand. for flow look for a trio of mag12s or larger quite ones and run them in a closed loop system.

Closed loop??

I use black estes marine sand. I have heard the moon said can lose it's black, but I've never used it. The estes is a large sand that doesn't move a lot when big strong fish make big movements. It cleans fairly easily with a gravel vac.

I would use two 1200gph to power a good sized sump and then a 1000gph power head/pump in the tank.
I use 2x3600 to powe the sump of my 450g and a 9.5 and 5 in the tank for current. When I first added them you could see the fish had to get used to the new current. They must have had to actually work at it get used to the movement.

The 2x3600 those are the pumps correct?

Right.. I have 2 3600gph return pumps.

Ok so I should be more then good with the 2x1200 then. Thanks for the advice. And I already found a Twist UV light. Now all I need is the sump. How big of a sump would you think I would need? Or maybe I could do a DIY 2x55sump.?!?!?!:naughty:

2x55g would work as long as they are connected so where they share water. Otherwise since all pumps don't function exactly the same, you could dry one up or overflow the other. I would definitely DIY.
