240 Gal project with pics

Well I went today to pick up my 240g 8'X2'X2' acrylic aquarium and 70 gallon sump today. This is my first monster tank the last biggest was a 75G. Here are some pics of the project as I intend to clean, and buff the scatches out before putting anything in it. I also must redo the bulkheads since they showed signs of leaks. I found this monster on CL.


The tank was a mess with alot of alge and other hard to remove gunk on the viewing panels. It was going to take a lot of elbow grease. :irked:

This is the sump...it is 70 gallons and has a duel bio ball chambers...1 on each side.

To do list: Bulkheads, polish and buff, stand, canopy, lights, decorations, cycle. add fish :naughty:
 
thats a pretty sweet acrylic.. and the sump.. ur gonna get some good filteration...

Off to the store today to pick up materials to begin building the stand. I also will be picking up some scratch removeing and buffing materials.

:headbang2Well I ended up picking up these fine products for a try at scratch removal and shining.

I decided to pick up some blue magic scratch remover and some shiner

Some sand paper (wet/dry)
600g, 1000g, 1500g, 2000g, and 3000g

Here is the material I decided to use as a stand, it will be built with 2x8 and 3/4" ply.

Here is the substrate. I have 4 bags of pea gravel and 1 bag of large river stones to mix with the gravel for a natural look.
