Every tank I've ever owned from 55 to 70 to 155 etc, I have always looked at the tank stand and wondered [questioned] is that stand really gonna hold all that weight? No matter how nice the stand I always look with skepticism at first......I got my 150 at petsmart so I didn't worry about that one too much.
However, now I just got my first 240 from a LFS...He didn't have any in stock but said he could get one in 2 weeks....so Yesterday it came and I brought it home,,,,,so my stand paranoia has resumed.....first off does a tank that long [96x24x24]...not need a wood piece going across the middle? [see pic 3]....also does it need a floor? there is a base that all the vertical wood goes down into but does it also need a wide entire floor base? [pic 8 is a blemish in one of the verticle columns]
I actually picked it up as it arrived at the LFS so it went from their truck to mine, and I asked simply "will that stand hold that big tank and water? Of course he said "Oh yeah guaranteed!!" Didn't think to ask the questions that I'm asking here [was too excited to think lol]....I also asked do I need to put anything in between the tank and stand? He replied no I don't....So does this tank build look right to hold up???? It may be PERFECTLY fine, but by nature I ALWAYS doubt at first especially now that I'm talking 240 gallions of aqua!!

It looks like it will work. It looks sturdier than my 220's stand which has 260 lbs of sand and 400 lbs of rock, plus water and glass tank & lids.

But if you need to put your mid at rest, it looks like you could do so easily with a few 1x3" (or whatever ihas been used.) timbers.

It should be fine, the tank you have is designed to only be supported around the edges as it sits on a trim. But if you're worried you could could add some extra bracing.

That stand will be fine.

I understand your paranoia. I always feel safer when I see a solid bottom for the base of the tank. I guess the question would also be if anyone has had any problems with tank stands that don't have that solid piece to support the whole base of the tank?

If it helps you sleep at night, get a few 2x4's and brace across the center, then add a couple ripped sheets of plywood. Thats more than enough framing for it. And you can fill the nail holes with wood putty and match up the color to paint/stain over those spots. Its overkill, but I know what you mean
