Hey all,
Currently in the process of setting up a 240 gallon acrylic tank with sump. I have a few questions about potential stock, when to introduce, mixing, etc. I have been doing heavy research but I'd like some feedback on any potential problems I might run into down the line. I'm looking to keep the tank on the less aggressive side.
Currently, my eventual stocking plan would be:
1 Chocolate cichlid (lg centerpiece fish, mostly peaceful)
1 Flagtail Prochilodus (I figure it would be comfortable in a 240 and isn't too aggressive)
1 Rainbow cichlid (Archocentrus/Herotilapia multispinosa)
4-6 Electric Blue Acara
10-20 Diamond Tetra or Lemon Tetra
For bottom dwellers, I am having a hard time deciding between some sort of calmer Geophagus, a large group of cory cats, or some armored catfish like Flagtail Porthole catfish, etc.
My main questions are:
1. Would my tank be overstocked with the full list? The sump is a 39 gallon Trigger systems unit, and I have purchased filter floss and a large amount of ceramic biomedia.
2. Are there any potential issues in regards to compatibility or aggression?
3. Are there any fish you might suggest that would work better for my plan?
4. Could I feasibly do any severums, angelfish or Heros sp. Rotkeil, etc. in addition.
The bottom will be sand. I don't plan on any plants except tough distasteful varieties like java fern and Anubias.
Thanks for anyone's expert advice. Sorry for the wall of text.
