Since I setup the 240, I really didn't like it but it was a tank that I didn't have before and it was given to me as payment on a loan. So, I found a 300 gallon from a member on here who I regularly buy fish from. I'm making a payment tonight to hold until I sell the 240. I can't have both, well I can if I move it to the porch but I need to use the money from the sale if possible.
Big cichlids in a 240 isn't working that well for me anyways. They seem to just go around and around the tank chasing each other. Seems like there is no rest. Where as a long tank, they can't do that and usually just go back to the other side.
The 300 will be setup where the 240 currently is. I will also be using a big sump, which I now prefer, it's already in use so I don't have to cycle the tank. Then I'm going to tank the sump off the 240 and put it on the 220 and remove the canisters. I will either use them on the 75 and 35 or just sell or keep as spares. Most likely I will put on the smaller tanks because they are both in the living room using Emperor's so they aren't quiet.
I think I will use aragonite this time as well. I used it several years ago in the old 180 and it looked nice. The light bounced off the aragonite and made the tank bright and the fish looked good. I only have 2 LED light's left so will have to order 2 more to cover the tank completely.
It sits on a low boy stand so I will most likely build another stand, it's possible I will make room underneath for a 125 or just use that space for the sump. Not sure yet.
I'm ready to get this moving. I'm making an order for fish from Gage in 2 weeks for some of his biggest cichlids.
