Alright anyone, I need some help or Ideas on lighting for my 240 long, 8'x2'x2'. I dont want a wooden canopy because I dont like the look of them. I am going to have glass tops. I wanted to get two 48" dual bulb strip lights, but from what I hear they would end up hanging over the edge of the tank. I also dont know exactly how much watage I should have, I dont want a really bright tank, but nothing real dim or dull either. Any help would be great. thanks Oh yeah, this will be a freshwater tank with no plants!

2 4' fuxtures offset with a 6500k bulb would light the tank good

Alright I dont know much about lighting, what does the 6500k mean?

Also if there is anyone out there that has ordered a 4' dual bulb flourescent strip, how long in total is it, I mean EXACTLY?? 4' and 1/8" or 3' 11 - 3/4" Thanks

6500k is more a natural spectrum good lighting with the fixtures off set you would have one in the front on one side and the other in the back on the other side or you could just use 2 24" fixtures with the same kind of bulbs that would work out too

8x2x8 feet meaning 96x24x24 inches... i would go with 2 x 36 inches align together (like a straight line) to make around 72 inches but with clearance it will be around 75 put them in the middle front. if you want more go and get 2 more and put it at the mid back. or get a 47" for the mid back part.... if had the tank that size. :) i'm having my 72" tank have a 47 inch light strip (i do have a canopy). :)

k means kelvin, the higher the more brighter.
