Hi.

I bought a used 240 with stand, and 3 out of the four pieces of trim are missing off of the bottom.

What is the easiest thing to do to fix this? I know I can't set it up and fill it without replaceing the trim.

Someone suggested that I remove the remaining trim piece, however, am I retarded or isn't the trim needed for bracing???

I don't think that trim does much. I have a 240 that is missing some of the bottom trim and it's been up and running for a few years now.

So, you think I can just remove that last piece and everything will be OK? That would be awesome.

ANy dissenters before I fill this bugger up?

More input!

I'm paranoid....:nilly: :nilly:

I would either remove ALL of the trim, or replace all of it so it is uniform.

The picts are hard for me to make out, but it appears that the trim piece wraps under the tank itself. I would be scared that it could cause some sort of pressure point. making the tank crack at some future date.

I would remove the old trim, and go over the tank bottom making sure that there is no silicone built up on the bottom.

fill it in the driveway and let it sit a few days

I doubt it will leak.

That's what I was thinking.

Yes, it does, I was worried that even empty, it could cause enough twisting to fatigue the seals...

Okay.
Gonna take it all off and fill it and pray to Poseidon:headbang2

I don't like how that trim wraps underneeth either. Remove it and if you want trim. put some only aroun the out side and not underneeth. too much weight not distributed properly.

That's an awful lot of water (1900 pounds) that you would be trusting just the silicone to hold. I would replace the base. Silicone is plyable but it may strech and tear which means leaks.

you can go to thatpetplace.com, you should be able to get trim there if you just leave the glass be sure to put foam underneath, it will help prevent stress on the bottom.

Oh DAMN! :irked: :irked:
DOUBLE DAMN!

That's what I was afraid of when I posted this.

Just when I was convinced everything would be OK.....

Back to needing some kind of bottom bracing / trim.

S'OK...everybody needs a little trim now and then...
