Well i just got a 240 gallon with a homemade but very sturdy looking stand. The 240 is scratched up but i have buffed out the front and it looks good. The filter has an Iwaki pump that pumps 19GPM which would be like 1200 an hour, anybody heard of this pump, is it good its hooked up to a cool sump full of bioballs and a skimmer and refugium. Has 4 huge bulbs and a cool oak top with doors. I am trying to put it all together now so if anybody has any advice, the tank has a balck back with 2 overflows that sit flush with the stand! Its going to be fresh water tank for my huge Payaras! I want the water conditions perfect so i am going to use the under the tank systm i have always used canisters and hob ones but heard this was the ultimtate way to go, i also have 4 pounds of ehiem substarte to add to the bioballs for the best water
I heard a 240 tall is better than a regular since they use thicker glass was wondering if that was true, i feel i got the greatest deal since the guy had to move yesterday and the tank was all that was left!

Ya can't go wrong with a 240g no matter how you look at it. Post some pics of what you have so we can help you assemble it. What part of California are you from? The Southern part of the state is overdue for a note worthy earthquake. Meaning the next one could be a big one. What will make the difference of your tank surviving or becoming an insurance claim is the construction of your stand. What I am looking at is not a good thing.

WOW sweet pickup brudder. get them payaras fat fat fat

well i am going to put some shimmys under the stand and maybe reinforce the stand. The scary part is we sleep under the tank so if it would fall that would be tragic. I am thinking about strapping it to the wall with screws and sraps around this bad bay. My bro is coming over now to put it togethre thanks Howie

Should i hook up the skimmer also with reguim. Someone told me that skimmers are only for salt. But i feel i will have lots of feeders living in the tank for my boys so i want great water conditions. Does the tank really have potentail to fall on me? Is a 240 tall better than a regular since its thicker glass? Is this Iwaki a great pump, i am scared something will go wrong and leak the water from the bottom, thats where the ouitlet is on the bottom part of the tank. I hope my bro coming by knows whats up, i will post some pics and keep informed thanks guys.
