On my 240 i have a 30 gallon cool wetdry! Seems everyday the water level in the sump drops half and inch! Is that about correct on evaporation and my Iwaki 1160 pump , pumps water out the bottom of the wetdry does that pump need some kind of filter seems dirt can get thru the whole sump and pump back into the tank, maybe even clogging the pump?

nice pump by the way just to start.. ya about a 1/2 inch or so out of the sump is normal ..really if u add that up it's not all that much water at all... i would add a prefilter to ur pump..even if it's a homemade idea.... attach any sponge filter meda to the inake of ur pump to keep large debris out... U don't have to do this (but I would ) clean the sponge Daily U don't want added bactria to grow there at all.... if U can't clean it Daliy do it a least once a week... just a tip hope it helps
