Finally, after 2 yrs of problems (reseal) and distractions (child) I've got my 8' x 2' x 2' tank stand and tank in my house. I finished plumbing it the other day. When I put the stand in I checked for level - seemed good. When I put the tank on top I checked for level - seemed good. Filled about 5/6th full with water (so as not to reach overflows) and let is sit overnight to check for leaks because I'm a nervous nelly and I did a panel replacement and a reseal myself as well as plugging 9 (9!) holes with bulkheads and this is like the fifth time I've checked for leaks, but better safe than sorry.
Anyway, good news is that there were no leaks so I poured water in the overflows to see if they leaked and to see if the durso would self prime. All good. Started filling the tank the rest of the way and I realize that the water level looks uneven. It is about a 1/2" off from left to right and about a 1/16" off front to back. It's off enough that the left overflow couldn't start because the right one was taking all the water. So I drained the majority of the water out overnight.
What should I do? I assume I should try to shim the stand on the high short side with a touch more on the front than back. Will that be ok in the long run? The stand is a solid-edge glass cages stand, not a footed metal or 2x4 stand.
