Hi everyone,

Thought id share my new stand build and tank set up.

About 7wks ago I ordered a new Acrylic 12mm 7'x30"x24"(h) tank with Eurobrace top, black bottom and back.
It will be getting delivered this friday so its now a big rush to get everything ready lol.

Today didnt start off well, I had the timber delivered which was a bad idea as some of it turned up split! I had to make a trip to the supplier and swap it! Pointless, im not ordering from their again. But plus points I got my £25 delivery cost refunded :).

Finally about 3hrs later I made a small start just cutting the ply and 2x4"s for the bottom of the frame. I also cut the 3x3"s to use for the uprights.

I'll be up early tommorrow and hopefully finish the frame before im off for Easter dinner at my parents house.

Here are a couple of pics just to begin (there a bit rubbish but its a start, haha)

As I am not having any substrate and Ive had a Black bottom put on the tank I decided to make some pebble decorations.

I had 2x 5mm Black Acrylic sheets cut to A3 size. I then siliconed the pebbles to it and left spaces to position some plants.
Ive got a feeling I will need to make a couple more but Im starting with these.

Ive not finished yet but here is a peek.

Small update. The frame is built just needs doors and painting.
Had a little help as well from Dexter, although he did lay around a lot :)

It seems like cats only want attention when you are trying to do stuff...can't wait to see the finished stand. It looks like it will be very nice.

Hi,
here is an update on how things are going.

Well as I said the tank turned up on friday of last wk, only problem was the dimensions were wrong!!!!
It was 30" tall and 24" wide instead of 24" tall and 30" wide :( my heart sank as you could imagine Ive been looking forward to its arrival for wks.
Not only that the bottom was white and not 'Black' which I had asked for and to top it off it had no covers! Another must as I had stated.
Fourtunitly I had all the emails at hand and he apologised and is making me a new one for this wkend.
(I will not say who is building the tank as he admited it was his mistake and is sorting it out for me asap).
Hopfully this time it will be the Bespke aquarium I am paying for ;).

Here is a copy of the drawings I sent him:

Anyways back to the stand!

Been really busy with work the last wk so just been doing a little bit here and there.

so, I got the doors made and hung and also done some filling and painting.

The final colour is going to be 'Chocolate Dream' in Satin Ive chose this as my 150g stand is the same colour and goes well in the Livingroom :)

1st pic is stand so far with doors.
2nd pic the original idea I had with dodgy Black Aro lol.

Looks cool and it fits right in there. I would call it a cubbyhole, but anything that holds a tank that size can't really be a cubbyhole!

My only concern would be that window. It allow directs sunlight, won't that cause an algae issue?

BTW....nice looking stand. What about a canopy?
