ok by febuary next year, i will have a 8x2x2 setup. for filtration would 2 ren xp4 work? i will also have an r/o set up to my tank and sink. how many gallons or r/o would should i change say every 2 days? would a 40gallon per day work? also i plan on stocking some fish would these fish be able to be kept in the tank for life?also are they compatible?

1-silver or black arow
1-giant gourami (redtail-or white?)
3-bp or kkp
1-endli bichir
1-flowerhorn(ima closley watch just incase then ill take out)might replace with a midas?

any other tankmate suggerstions?

Yer i would re think your stock list , as said before the Awo' would do best with a tank about 3foot wide if not wider . Also the GG' would probily do best with a tank 3foot wide too .

The bp or kkp , im not sure what they are :S, so i cannt help there .

Endli Bichir - i would persanly go with a trio of them maybe or think of something else like a large school of Clown Loaches or a couple of Lima catfish ( Just what i would do , do what ever you want ) .

Flowerhorn/ Midas - i would probily go with something like an Oscar or a Green terror ( but thats just my opion ) .

Filters and Water changes - i would go with a sump or 2 FX5's and do a 25% change twice a week .

uhh if my tank is 3 foot wide then can i shorten the length of the tank? like 7feet or 6better?

No i wouldnt !

The resion we say widen to tank is because silver and black Awo' can grow to about 2.5foot in length so the wider the better so they can turn around in tank easy enough , same with the GG' they grow about 2foot them selfs .

so the tank been wider would be best so the fish dont get stressed when turning , plus the length been about 8foot would be good so the is plently of room to swim about in with out getting bothered with each other .

dam that be say 500g! double wat i planned for

Think about the fish you want too stock then ,

a few large Cichlids would be great in a 240Gal tank along with a group of Clown Loaches or a couple of medium size catfish .

But if you are wanting to have a Awo' and GG' then think about saving up for a larger tank , or just not getting them and change you stock ideas .
