I just got a 240g tank and am setting up a filtration system for it, just had a few questions. I have decided to use pot scrubbers as the bio media and filter floss as a pre filter. Question is how many pot scrubbers do I need, I bought a dozen 6 packs (all they had), should I get more? The sump will be ~30g and the pump should flow just over 1000 gph at the head I will have it at. Another question is what size pluming should I use for this flow rate?

Well, I would not use filter floss as a prefilter, try something coarser. The filteross can get clogged pretty quiclky. You could use it another way to sort of polish the water. As far as the pot scrubbers go it all depends on how you are designing your sump. Are you going to try a drawer syestem or garbage can(etc.). Does it have a EOF or IOF? Go with flexible tubing. The size will be determined by your fittings.

Thanks for the reply.

I will be using a drawer system with the pot scrubbers above the water line, just wondering if I have enough. Does anyone have any ideas what I should use as a prefilter and what do you mean by EOF and IOF?

depending on the amount you can get, Some places sell pot scrubbers in packs of 6 or 8. When I got mine I bought 8 packs of 6. Id get atleast 10.00 worth if you get them at a dollar store, maybe 15.00 to be safe.
