I've had this kelberi for a while now and it has shown no signs of body markings. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

Sorry for the dark picture. I've added a bunch of tanins to the water to increase breeding behaviour. It makes getting a good picture very tough and even then they are very dark.

Here is its tankmate which was purchased at the same time and was/is the same size.

I think it would be cool if they bred and some of the babies were solid gold like this. 24K Gold Cichla!! :headbang2

They are still pretty young. The largest is only about 9". The solid gold maybe an inch smaller. The largest one should yet develop into this:

do you know what rivers they were collected from? yeah they seem to have diff body shapes so it looks as if they were collected from diff rivers. if the 24k never had bars and is yet to develop them, then maybe he wont have markings, but i have no clue.. honestly they change so many times as they grow.

He sure does ... Well At least he told me an area once and I forgot .. That was a year or maybe even two ago ;)

Just to keep you hangin till he comes back :D

I don't remember.. But that doesn't sound familiar;)

Both fish that I posted are from the Rio sao Francisco in Eastern Brazil. The different body shape is probably just because of camera angles but both fish were collected in the same river. Of that I have no doubt.

Supposedly the adult fish that I posted is also from the Rio sao Francisco.

Joey, you might be thinking of the Teles Pires that I also have.
