I'd do a pair if you could get them. Only time I've seen multiple butttis work is in large display tank at zoos. And they are a African cichlid

You could try but I doubt you could house multiple adults. Butti rarely cohabitate with things peaceful let alive others of the same species. Try just be prepared to move fish ig things get to bad.

good advice. do you think the chances of them getting along would raise any more if they were raised together in smaller tanks or in other words would there be more tolerance there?
If anything I'd start them off in the big tank. Small tank would create more tension because of the confined space
