just got a 250 gallon acrylic tank for my jardini. planning to put it in my basement but im worry if i need to reinforce the floor. my basement floor is raised. will it be able to hold this tank full of water? tank will be sitting in the corner of two main walls. plus im planning to order 2 300w heater plus the 200w i already have, will this be enough to heat the tank? sorry this is my first big tank.

I am having the same issue; will 75g(850lbs+misc=900lbs) be too heavy for my floor?
I live on the second floor in a 6-story building.

I have a second story apartment in a building thats not exactly new. I have no problems with my 75. first of all a 4ft tank will span multiple floor joists spreading out the weight. Its not that much weight if you think about it what if you invited 3 couples over for a visit probably over a 1000lbs would you tell them to stay on opposite ends of the room or the floor might collapse. The floors are also the strongest near the wall. Any building built to code should not wory about anything under a 100gal but as tanks get bigger they tend to spread their weight over a larger area.

You want the tank to be perpendicular so the weight is spread out across more joists. If it's just running w/ them then the weight is all going to be on that one joist or maybe two which you dont want.
