does anybody know a good going rate for a 250 gallon tank. there is one in my lfs (tank light glass top and stand) for 18 hundred dollars. comments?

$1,800?? !!! Acrylic right? Why not get a glass tank?

what kind of lights?
Acrylic: good price regardless of lights
Glass: decent price if lighting is PC or better.
at the lfs I work at we sell the AGA 210 w/ tank top, double 36" twin-tube lights and pine cabinet stand for $1200, sometimes as low as $999. Is the tank Reef-ready, or what? Starphire glass??

pft, i can get a 225 glass tank new for $600 cash here. Build a stand for idk price on lumber atm but $200 for a nice well built one. tops go to a glass cutter. lights new $200?? i would say its not a good deal by far. acrylic maybe but =\

in columbus ohio a 265 with a stand light glass hoods and filters is like 3Grand man is it a beotch that they cost so much over here

www.glasscages.com A 8' 240long 625.00...a stand is 575.00 but its unfinished...glass covers are 60.00 and you pick up whatever lights you like for how ever much you want. You can also get a canopy for 330 and mount your lights in it. I dont know what brand you were looking at in the store or if its glass or acrylic. I just got a 240 from GC and its a pretty nice tank. Maybe not picture perfect silicon job but only I will know about it once its up and running.

now thats a good deal for everything new.

I have never seen lower prices on new tanks. BUT they are not show type tanks like a oceanic. What I mean is the silicon might not be 100% perfect in a spot or the plastic rim might not be as great. My brother n law has a 6' 135 and it looks like the top plastic rim that was used was from two 3x18 tanks. BUT the tank is on a stand and has a canopy so you cant tell if its a GC tank or what. I got a 4' 75 when I got my 240 too and it looks great so maybe its only certain size tanks that have the odd rim. Or he stoped doing it like that because the 135 is from 5 years ago.

Here is the 240 I just got and the 75. I got mine reef ready...its 25 per hole and 25 per over flow chamber and like 30 per overflow cover. My total bill was like 1100 for the reef ready 240 with bulkheads and a 75 gal with 100 for a delivery fee. They travel across the US making deliverys and going to reptile and bird shows so if they are passing by you....you can pick up the tank and save a little on shipping.

This is the 75gal....I was doing a size comparison for someone with the 240 thats why the stroler is in there. So you see those top rims are not to bad on this tank. ONly problem with this 75 is the plastic didnt really stick to the silicon well...but shoot I have seen many a tank like that if carried wrong but wont effect how it holds water. And at the end of the day thats what a fish tank is supposed to do...

You can also get starphire glass from them...low iron...almost as clear as acrylic...and its not too pricy. I wish I would have gotten that on this 240. I waited to long to get the tank and they were going to be in my area in like a few days so I just got one they had in stock so I could pick up and save a little.
