Getting a 250 (6x3x2) in a month or so.

Tanganyikan community.

What I want:
Lots of species.
Many small fish (1-3")
5-7 medium fish(4-5")
One or two large fish (6-8")

Anyone have ideas for stock that meet those reqs.?

No tropheus please.

Strictly Tanganyikan.

A nice school of jumbo cyps.

Some kind of shelldweller, with a big pile of shells in one corner of the tank.
Lelupi are so bright and visible,Im a big fan of them.Try to entice them to set up shop at the opposite end of the tank.

For the big fish fronts are awesome but could make some of the others dissapear.

Would two Blue Zaire Fronts ever work in any sort of community like the one I described?

shell-dwellers or julies would be good for the smaller fish. It's going to be hard to find big fish for your tank though, as most big fish tend to consider little fish to be food.

As long as the fronts are not to big and the smaller fish arent too small. I has a couple calvus and brichardi in my front tank and they lasted about one day.

Especially fronts.Alot of folks get away with larger cyps, even though thats thier food in nature, if they grow up together.
The shellies, well they know when to dive for cover lol;)

How about a Mpimbwe biotope/region thing?

Something like:
2-3 Mpimbwe fronts
12 Tropheus brichardi "Mpimbwe"
5 (1m,4f) Neolamprologus calliurus (Mpimbwe)
5 Neolamprologus callipterus (Mpimbwe)
5 Xenotilapia flavipinnis (Mpimbwe)
