I picked up a 71x23x36 tall tank early this year for my office and just started the setup process. I bought it as a tank only. I’ve always tried to get wider tanks and wanted to try something tall. I plan on doing a medium South American cichlid community setup. I’ve started to grow out some geophagus sveni, heros liberifer, manacurapu red back scalare, mesonauta egregious and a couple others. As far aquascaping I’m thinking of a hard scape only boulder, root, limb setup.

Looking forward to this and love the stocking plans. Peninsula tanks are sweet. Any idea on what you’re doing for filtration?

Following along another penninsula setup.

BTW OP, don't mean to doubt but from the picture, it doesnt look like a 71" length tank? Is that just the picture playing tricks?

I think the height is throwing it off and making it look shorter.

Thanks! I have a glass 75 gallon and 5 gallons of pond matrix. Getting a bunch of laundry bags on Amazon for it. All my other tanks have pretty open sumps and I’m pretty happy with them so I’ll probabky go that route.

Great choice of stock. I’m really looking forward to this build.
Thanks! This is the first time I really planned the stock before getting started. Although everything I’m putting in there won’t take advantage of the 36” height I think it will create unique distribution throughout the water column. I love what these guys did although mine will be on a much smaller scale.
