Well the process has begun and i am diving in head first... my tank is 8'x2'x2' all glass brick style tank (naming there is no plastic frame whatsoever.. tonight i began to take off all the old silicone and using goobegone to remove film as well... i will be completely dissassemblying..(don't think that's a word)... and really siliconing EVERYTHING.... wish me luck and i will keep pics posting of before during and after... this is all for my rays... and arowana... and whatever else i decide to put in here... but i always said I'd go bigger... well... for free 260 gallons is a good start...

Free is always good. Good luck with the new project!

Nice pick up,and good luck with the reseal,il keep an eye on your progress as I'm.thinking of doing my 350g I just picked up for £200.

OK here's a question... how tight should i clamp the tank for the ends
.. i wanna make sure there are gonna be no leaks but i don't wanna over tighten though...

Alrighty a little update.. got both ends off and completely resealed them on... then i took the bottom panes out and cleaned them.. the resealed them to the bottom and the side... now i did break one... well my assistant did... lol... now i am calling an all service glass place tomorrow to replace.. tomorrow night i will silicone the last piece in place ... the on to the big move into the house... this puppy weighs almost 700 lbs tank alone... if anyone is in the Ohio area and would like to help move...gimme a hollar .... lol... wife's gonna kill me when she sees this... now i am looking for some stocking ideas... other than my big motoro rays.... i would like to get a few peacock bass i think...

unless im missing something, this will not work because the silicone needs to be applied all at once to create a water tight seal. I have built a few tanks, but im no expert by no means. The largest i have built was a 220 with 3/4 inch glass. I used rvt108 silicone. It was quite a job took myself and two others. Post some pictures if you have them please...
