hey i got a 260 gallon tank and i was wondering do you think that a male black nasty and a male umbee or dovii would be able to live in there 2ghether, i know they would fight quite a bit, but i mean the two fish wouldnt kill eachother do you thin/

thanks

It's up to the Dovii who lives and who dies?

Your the exception :D

I have a 6" Dovii in a 120g and he will not allow any tankmates.. Lost a couple.. took the rest out as I didn't want to lose any more.

I would say cchhcc's rule of thumb applies in my tank. I had to experiment with several fish before I found the ones he would accept.

your dovii would probably out grow those fish quickly and most likely even kill them.
umbee's and black nasty's i might give a try but both are very hard to maintain.
maybe try and black nasty pair.
i've always wanted to lol.

:iagree: I had a Dovii in a tank with a lot of other fish. No problems at all. He even left 2 angelfish alone. However it is up to the Dovii. They can turn in a flash and probably will outgrow everything. I would say It can't hurt to try, but you better have a back-up plan if things turn ugly. i.e. another tank.

personally i think your best bet of survival with a dovii and others would be to stock the tank pretty well but you would still have losses.

if i was you id breed dovii in that tank or have that tank as a cichlid community with out dovii or umbee.. and just do a single dovii or pair i a 180G

Totally agree. If two highly aggressive fish only have each other to focus on, there will be problems.
