Okay i was wondering if jeff rapps sells Nadopsis Beani? I love the look of the one he has in his gallery. And i was thining of doing something like Red Jags, Normal Jags, Grandmodes, and N. Beani's, maby three or four of each in my 260.

Generally people don't recommend putting 12-16 big aggressive fish in a tank that size.

I have seen them for sale there though, you may just have to wait. Check some of the other sellers in the section for that, at the bottom of the page.

Beani by all means should not be kept together. Once they get past 3" or so they can't stand the sight of one another. They will fight to kill each other as well as others. Very aggressive and very bold even when very young. Keeping 4-6 jags together is not a good idea as well. They will also kill one another because of cramped living space or they just might die from the Nitrates being like 100 ppm because you have 12- 16 fish and can't keep up with water changes. Just don't do this stocking plan very bad idea.

Beani are VERY hard to get. I am lucky I have 3 juvies. You will be searching for months possible years. When you do find them expect to pay around $150 for a 2.5-3 inch fish. I got mine cheap not going to tell as thats private..

Here's a better plan if you like those fish.
260:
1x Beani
1X Grammode
1xJag or a pair
and possible a Midas or another guapote like Freddies or Mota's
I would only keep 5-6 large cichlids in a 260.

oh jeez wow i didn't notice how many fish were in there. So like if i did something around the lines of 1 beani, 2 grandmodes, 2 jags, and then one other fish that is similur in shape and color of the others *ideas?* would that work?

Beani have been known to take up entire tanks as large as 600 gallons by themselves. If you want beani, think solo fish tank.

people actually put just one beani in a tank that large?
Hmm they are really cool bt no. So what i was thinking instead is one male of ea.
Jag, Red Tiger, Freddy, Lossie, Midas, Trimac. Would all those parachromis work? if they are males there would be some conspecific aggression right? but if i throw in 6 silver dollars as target fish do you think this would work out?

No, they had other fish in the tank at first, but they were systematically either killed or injured to the point of removal by the beani. :)

I've heard the same thing...600 gallons for one fish. That is a lot of water for only one fish. There are a few MFK members that do own them though.

HFRcampbell,

The last stock list sounds pretty doable in your tank. What is tha foot print on this bad boy though as your going to need some sq. footage.

this can work though. Put all of them in as juvi's and grow them out wiht a school of giant danios , about 20-30, and let them decide the pecking order you jst play referee.

good luck and i hope the foot print is atleast 7'x2'. So you have enough sq footage for these wonderful fishes.
