I've added a few fish since the last update. In the 265 I added several more Salvini's, Hoplo Cats, Tire Track, Geo's and Black Acara's. In the 500 another Tire Track, Trimac's, more Eclipse Cats and think that's it. I do have 3 more Paratilapia's but they can't handle the Sal's yet so they are in a 35 for a while. Also found another Fenetratus but it was beat up so it's in a hospital tank for now. I tried the two Tire Tracks together but that lasted all of 10 minutes. I'd be willing to trade a Tire for a Fire if anyone is interested of same size or larger.

In the 500 I stick with Eclipse Cats, I think they are one of the best candidates for any large tank as the max out around 12-15" or less and watching them school and interact with each other is neat to watch. Most other cats out there are very boring and do nothing but sit in one spot or just get too big for most home aquariums. The 265 will be Hoplo cats from now on. I was splitting the Eclipse Cat's up but I found the Hoplo's so I decided they will be in the 265 only.

I had a 18" Silver Arro but he got killed the first night in the 500 so I need one around 24-30" for it to survive.

That's a lot of fish in that tank! Makes for an interesting tank, that's a hard tank to get bored of watching.

How do you keep up with that bioload?

I use one FX5 and one Eheim XL. I rotate filters per month, one month its the FX5, the next month its the Eheim. I do the same on the 265, the 265 has an Eheim XL and a generic canister filter off of EBAY mainly used for UV Sterilization. The 500 will have one as well in several weeks since we are moving to a new house. Also, once the 500 is in the new house I will hook up the Ultima II 10K with a 4000-6000 GPH pump, move the FX5 to the 265 and the Eheim to the 220 which houses the Umbee and soon to be girlfriend.

Just a few days ago I had several big fish in the 265 but it didn't look right to me. So I keep the smaller fish in the 265 with the exception of the Jack Dempsey because he is a big baby and can't hold his own against the much bigger fish and the Choco pair.

I'm collecting Sal's as well, hard to find around here.

I think you'd need more filtration than just a FX5 or Eheim XL for that stock. Why not at least run both filters at the same time? There's not much room for bio media in an FX5 and you can at least double it with that Eheim.

that is a very impressive swarm you have there

Yea its not too bad. Have so many fish breeding its cazy. The RTM's are starting to dig an area and defend it. Hope I get some fry this time :)
