I have a 265 gallon tank I finally got inside and on my stand after leveling, etc. But when i look underneath the stand, it looks like the tank is resting on (3) single pieces of pine that have (2) placed on the end and (1) in the middle. The three boards are about 3 inches across and span the width. They are also the only things supporting the tank directly. Is this right???? Shouldn't the tank rest on the molding all around the tank? These boards are on above the rim of the stand. I bought this used and am thinking someone added supports to the stand? Wouldn't the current setup cause pressure points?

Thanks so much. Please answer if you can. I am worried. I currently have it filled half way.

I believe those supports are normally there with perfecto pine stands. the tank rests on the lip inside the stand. I do not believe these supports actually make any contact with the bottom of the tank, they are there for the integrity of the stand, not to support the tank itself.

perhaps someone with a 265g pine stand can be of more help.

okay, from what i saw at the LFS, the end braces are designed to support the tank at the ends, as they were making contact with the bottom of the tank. the middle brace was not. it must be there to add rigidity to the stand, not to support the tank.

are you sure the middle support is higher than the lip that the tank rests on?

First, thanks so much for you effort. I really appreciate it. It looks like all 3 are touching the tank. I just wanted to make sure any of them should be there. These braces are not flush with what I would call a rim. So essentially, the tank is resting on these supports like this: _ _ _ (with the dash being the supports) The tank is just resting on those areas alone.

okay, then that is the way they all are then. should be fine.

glass tanks do not need full support on the bottom, despite popular myth.

so that is why the stand is designed this way. it doesnt sound like it has been modified at all.

as long as the middle support is not higher than the outer ones, there are no high spots created.

That is what I figured. But I have been sitting on this set up for so long, I couldn't remember how it was to begin with. Thanks for helping bring my blood pressure down.

Probably the wrong place, but I don't have much time to post and I am worried about the Cat's health.....It looks like one of my catfish got injured during the move. His lower tail fin is broken and dangling. What should I do? Is there anything I can do for it?

I tested to make sure the pic worked, so I don't kow what happened to it. Thanks again for you quick response though. I really appreciate it.
