Hello,

A co-worker is selling me a 265G that he bought 10 years ago. He tells me that he has never filled the tank up as it required for him to reinforce his floor first. So he's kept this empty tank for this long.

I waiting for the Pics and the measurements which I'll post later, but in the meantime do you guys think I'll need to re-seal this tank? my house is being built on a slab, and he says the tank is 600 pounds empty and around 3000 pounds with water (Plus the sump I want to add), will my floor be okay?

I want to house rays on this tank, so I hope is deep enough.

My 180 was built in 1998 by Allglass and is up and running currently . Outlasted the stand it came with. If the aquarium was kept indoors it probably is good but I would like to still see it with water in it for assurance.

Awesome, I'm glad to hear that. I don't think the tank is deep enough for me now that I have more details!

Is the tank brand new still?
Like tlindsey said, if it was kept indoors, you shouldn’t have any issues. Inspect the seams really well, put it in the garage or outside and fill it with water.

After tlindsey's response, I asked the seller and he said the tank has stayed in their living room, in the pallet that it came in the whole time. But he said he doesn't know how much is worth. If the price is good, I might buy it! I'll try to check it out this weekend

That's a rare find my friend. That is one I'd be willing to spend a little more on than a standard "used tank". Good luck, hope all goes well!

You can probably get that tank for a song to be honest. Do a fill test and if it holds water, enjoy your new tank!

Definitely do the fill test though.
