Here is a shot of my 265. It's not the best pic in the world (by any stretch of the imagination) but I wanted to use it to point a couple of things out:
Clarity:
There is a common thought that glass distorts the color of fish. While this is true, it's not nearly as bad as what some make it out to be. Compare the white door in the background above and below the tank. That's the amount of difference you can expect. Note that the color difference in the door is from 2 panes of glass, so the effect on the fish will be half of the effect on the door. It's not that bad IMO.
Turnover rate:
The flow on this tank is enough to turn it over about 2.5x per hour. The ammonia levels never spike (I've tested it at several different intervals after feeding and throughout the day). Over filtration is not necessary on this tank. This is filtered by 1 wet/dry with what's considered to be minimal amounts of bio media. (about 8g of bioballs)
Mechanical filtration:
I've read a lot about wet/dry filters having bad mechanical filtration abilities. Even at 2.5x turn over I've never had a problem with discolored water/floating particles.
Glass cleaning:
2 words. Invisible Glass. That stuff is the best glass cleaner I've ever found. It takes no scrubbing for water marks and it doesn't take much to do the job. If you haven't used it, go get a can. It's worth it!
I had a few other thoughts in mind, but I cant remember what they were. It's too late and I'm tired
Feel free to post any comments/questions, and thanks for looking!
