a couple years back, almost 4...I didn't secure in one of the plumbing tubes correctly all the way into the sump. Needless to say, I walked in to a mushy dining room (carpeting). I used my carpet cleaner and towels to soak up the water around the front of the tank, as that seemed to be where it mostly went. The stand underneath was not wet on the backside, just front of the sump, spilling into my dining room. I never moved the tank to dry underneath, although I knew that's what I should have done. Now, years later I still think about that day. I haven't messed with the filters for several...yes, several months. There's cobwebs and dust all underneath. I have a redtail catfish and achara in the tank, with a 30g sump, which has remained clean for almost a year, and a FX5, along with a UV light. I'm going to clean the filters this weekend, but looking around the sump there's blue/green discolor on the black stand floor behind the sump. THere's no leaks as I tried feeling for. Could the discolor, which I wiped clean, and was "disturbing" to breath while doing so, be some form of bad mold seeping through the stand, feeding from the moisture of the sump?

THe main reason why I checked this tonight is because although I asked my hubby about the brown spot on the floor and he dismissed it, I discovered just now that the one side of our sliding glass door is rotting on the bottom of the wood trim, from the outside. The tank is against the wall right before the sliding glass door. In order for us to replace the doors, we will have to move the tank....did I mention we rent a townhouse? The tank sits on the main, 1st floor. It's concrete underneath the carpeting.

Looking forward to being flared at on this one...but need some insight as to how to fix the dry rot issue of the sliding glass door wood trim without the landlord knowing, as they don't know how big the tank is (also have a 125 and 75g on main floor, different room than 265g)....and how concerned should I be when we do move the tank from the leak years ago....

Guessing from how the tank was running when I realized the leak, it did not lose enough water for the overflows to quit working. THere's holes drilled on top of the overflow pipes to prevent massive "leakage", and the pumps were still running in the sump as they won't run dry. The sump was maybe 1/2 empty....guessing 20-30 gallons of water loss???

This is your landlord, I'm getting an eviction notice in the morning:ROFL:
After 4 years I wouldn't think you'd be seeing new mold growth just now. It's probably just growing on the surface from the spill. I can't imagine what type of science project awaits you when you move the stand though. Better rent a rug doctor & hope for the best!
