ok lfs has a 1500g display tank with 2 aros just shy of 30 inches. they have started to fight and the guy that runs it was wondering if i wanted to buy one. first off, what would you figure one is worth? he told me 500 boxed up or 300 if i want to get wet and catch him. im thinking of offering him 250 is that a decent deal? i have an 8x4x2 tank with a 12" gar and 16"rtcxtsn. are the agressive? i know they are jumpers in the wild, do i need a heavy top? basically is there anything i really need to know about them as far as temperment or care goes and would this be a good deal?

i dont really want an aro, just want big south american fish, and this is the first i can actually get

He wants to get rid of it, he should pretty much give it away. It's nowhere near worth 500 dollars. There shouldn't be any problems between the silver and the fish you currently have. If you're really interested, lowball him.

its tough, becuase it is in his display tank, however i know they arent too tight for money (they also have 3 fly river turtles in smaller tanks around the place) i might see if he will take like 200 bucks

I think if you look around for local classifieds, you might find a few big ones for cheap or even for free. Or atleast thats what I've been seeing for a long time now in Canada. people are trying to get rid of their 2' silvers with no luck, to the point where they have trouble even giving them away.

ive been asking around, but its a waiting game. also im not sure how MFK people are way up in the north east. i see alot around jersey area, but that is like 6 hrs away
