Howdy,

I recently aquired a new client who purchased a 37 inch high, 24 inch wide, and 72 inch long tank that is custome built that has about 275-300 gallons. :woot: I am in the process of setting this beast up. Wet/dry filter system. He wants fresh water (Weird) species that get reasonably big. I want easy to keep species. SO....I turn to my MFK friends and ask.

Would you have a suggestion as to what type of fish would be good in this beast. We need big (but responsible to the tank). I need numbers, and species. The tank will be decorated with drift wood and rocks. Maybe a few fake plants.

Anyone have a source for a lot of rock like slate???....LFS prices are absurd on this stuff.

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Tom

After calculations (all correct me if i'm wrong) that's 230 gallons and not 300g. If he likes the oddballs I would go with stuff like Arowanas, big cats like a Lima shovelnose or something else the same size, a bunch of large cichlids, maybe a knife (clown/royal)... It's not that big of a tank and the real oddball monsters will outgrow the tank eventually.

You could also fit a lot of smaller oddballs in there, but then you would have to forget the monsters since they will just end up breakfast. Oh how about a small school of piranhas? Like 5 or 6 i guess?

My 2 cents

Edit: Thought about some more...small Gars, Polypterus... look at this thread has some for sale! http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15677

You can go with arowana's, Peacock bass, Lunh fish, stingray's, Tiger shovel nose catfish & Much more!!

I think it's too small for a tiger...dunno about peacock, but it also seems like they would outgrow it...experts?

Ok...what are CA/SA bada??? I would like to go with an arowanna though so maybe help me build the tank aroud it....I would also like to have a Sunshine Pleco in there.

suggestions? Keep em coming.....

Central American / South American...the cichlids I was talking about

And bada means "Bada%$" as in agressive fish ;)

Look at the link i sent you above, they are the black striped fish there's a few in his tank...
