I have an empty 29 gallon tank that i am wanting to put some clown fish in..thinking small reef type set up.... what would you guys suggest
i guess from what i have been reading...i should have about 29 lbs of live rock....so yeah i wanted some soft corals and all that too...
so not to get too carried away i was looking for some advice ...

like how many clowns can i have...
and a question about sand...i was thinking of getting a bag of live sand ..and about getting black sand and mix the 2 together..jst for some colour differnce on the bottom
and i have already learned that i can use base rock(dryed out live rock) and let it become live...

is 29 big enuf?
NE ideas welcome

In a 29Gallon I would put 2 Clowns max. As for 29 lbs of Live Rock, some say thats the rule, but its not mandatory, put in as much as you think looks good, enough to have ledges for the corals, and enough to aquascap the tank, keep in mind you need to leave the clowns room to swim. As for mixing the sand, you can do what ever you want, that sounds like it would look pretty neat.

overall I agree with brenden. But as for the livestock and sand. Remember that in a salt tank the live Rock, sand is all your biological filtration. So I would add at least 30 lbs of rock and the sand you can mix it will turn live eventually. Also save and buy your self a GOOD protein Skimmer it will make all the difference when it comes to water quality and algae. Good luck
