I've set up a 29 gallon salt tank.

I've got live rock and live sand in it, its running on a fluval (40 gl grade) and has a coral-life suspended halide.

In it i want to keep a fuzzy dwarf lionfish, and was thinking maybe some sort of eel.

WHat else could i keep with a fuzzy?
and do i need to get a protein skimmer>?

eel..I would recommend going with some kinda ribbon eel...29 gallon is too small for the others. If you are getting the lionfish and the eel then I don't think you should keep any other fish there, again, because of the size of your tank.

who in their right mind recommends ribbon eels, especially for a 29? they get like 5 feet long and rarely survive...

in the 29 with my fuzzy i keep a neon velvet damsel and a black and gold chromis

and engineer goby would be the only eel-like thing i can think of keeping in a 29

what?? sorry about that...my LFS guy told me that they don't grow that big and don't move that much either...he told me that they can get up to 10"...

Hmm Fuzzy : OK

Eel...Not ok

I;m no expert but some kinda goby would be the most eel-like thing you could keep

i've never seen any one anywhere NEAR that large so i couldn't say... all that i've seen are under 8"

if he has the patience he could be put on the waiting list for a melatremus eel, that's be perfect :D
