ok so i just started my first salt tank, its 29 gallons has 2 hob filters with ceramic rings for bio, will be adding a skimmer this week for filtration, regular aqua glo bulb untill i buy my ho/t5 set, its filled with live sand and right now i started with 5.5 pounds of live rock, i have one clown fish that i added not to long ago, the question here is, will i be ok to go ahead and add another clown and a blue tang? the tank will be filled with more live rock and once my tank has the right lighting(ho/t5) i will be adding corals, would the blue tang be able to live with the clowns? and will he be ok in the tank?? i will update with pics from start to finish of my tank tonight

i also have a korilia nano and a korilia 2 for water movement

Hey man i was thinking about starting a 20 reef, my first salt also. Has it been as easy as the read is? And where di dyo uget your lighting from?

a blue tang will get way too big for that tank..... it would live fine with clowns you just need alot bigger tank for it. they can get up to a foot, 8-9" is more likely but that is way too large for your tank it wouldnt have any swimming room.

gotta agree the blue tang min tank size recomendation is 70 gal your going to have to upgrade fairly soon.

You need to add the rock first, that forms a large portion of your filtration. When you add it later you'll probably start a small cycle and could kill your fish.

And I agree, there should be no Tangs going in that tank. Look at Damsels, Gobies, Blennies, etc.

Adding another clown is an option, but it could get beat up bad. Only try if you have
(1) more live rock for it to hide
(2) A QT backup tank in case it goes badly

If you really want to get a pair you might be better off returning your clown, and adding two small ones at the same time later on after you get the live rock sorted out.
