Ok so I initially bought this 29 Gallon Biocube because I had my 150 sitting around waiting to be set up and I couldn't take it anymore, so I went out and bought it. I decided to get a mantis shrimp and found this small peacock (i'm pretty sure thats what he is, he def. isn't the green or yellow one so i'm assuming its a peacock, also labeled as so in the shop). I think I paid $15 for him since he had been there a while and no one really buys Mantis Shrimps often.
He is a smart little guy, he grabs smaller rocks to brace the big rocks so that they dont cave in on him, he knows exactly when its feeding time...before I even get the krill ready. Oddly enough he is also fairly nice to his tankmates.
At first I put some Damsels in there to see if he would kill them or not, as it seems he doesn't like the taste of fish much. So now I have a Clown fish and an Arch-eye Hawkfish in there with him. They all get along, the shrimp stays in his cave and the fish stay out of his cave....lol or else they get punched in the face
. I am now putting corals in there with them, I bought a pack of 20 small corals and have them laying in the substrate until they appear well off and I can ID them well enough to glue them where I want them. My favorite right now are my orange Sun Corals. At first they didn't want any food at all and now they are all out and appear to be growing already (its only been two weeks), I swear 5 new heads have grown since they have been in the tank. The will be the first to be glued into position.
Here are some pics, most of them are old...and I haven't taken pics of the corals yet because they are still small and not in the places they will be later on.
His first kill
This is the tank a few month ago to get an idea of his living space...two of the damsels are dead, one was put into the 150 to help cycle the tank and is still alive
