i know it would be a little much for the stock i have in the tank now, but would it be a bad idea?..if not..what should my turnover rate be? and what kind of pump is a good pump?
a big THANKS in advance for any advice

sounds like a PITA for a tank that small. It's not "too much", there wouldn't be any direct detrimental effect, but it's a waste of time and money when you can get an AC50 for super cheap off ebay.

10 gallons is fine, they're super cheap and probably easier to find than something small. You wouldn't need any more than a 300 GPH pump.
