I bought a 90g tank that came with a 29g sump. It was used for saltwater and I am going to use the 90g as a planted freshwater tank. I have drawn out the layout of the sump and would love some advice on what to use in it and which chamber that it would go in.

I thought the same thing but I got it this way. I would have to see if I could cut out all the sealant and move the dividers. Maybe then I can reset it to a better set up for a freshwater planted tank.

Anybody else have any DIY sump designs. This sump is going on a 90g freshwater planted and heavily populated community talk.....any idea would be great. It seems I will have to remove all the dividers in my current setup

rokit_armor's design looks perfect to me. His design is how I would design a sump!

Are sumps a detriment to planted tanks because sumps off gas CO2 and add oxygen to the water? I wouldn't have a tank without a sump but the sealed system of a canister filter might be more beneficial to plant growth?
