Hey whats up fella's. So this is the second ac110 i have bought and had shipped to my house in the last month. And both came cracked in the same spot the same exact way. Any one else been having this problem. I have bought a ton of these through out the years and have never had a problem. I thought it was just done in shipping last time. But two cracked the same exact way is more the coinsadent. I am very disapointed in aqua clear right now. Both shipping boxes were not dented or damaged. And niether were the actually boxes for the filter. So oviously these are factory flaws. And both of these were sealed un opened items. I fixed the last one with locktite. and will do the same with this one. Just retarded saving the money isnt worth it to have to buy stuff to fix it. After waiting a week to recieve it. Then waite another two days to use it. Sorry just venting at this point. Looking to see who else has had this problem lattely. So feed back please.

+1 for canisters. :D

Canister tops of lots of different canisters are infamous for breaking. Any ways thats not the point of this thread. Simply to discuss if any one else has had this problem with brand new ac110's

I had a new AC110 come cracked just like that as well. Thankfully I got mine of amazon so the return was zero hassle.

Canisters crack too. Just look at fluval.

My fluval is crackless, thank you. As is my eheim and even my stupid rena.

I've owned aquaclears. I have never been that impressed with them, but I will say they are the best HOB I've used (which is not saying much...). ;)

Sounds like they're obviously having some quality control issues.

I was nice the first. Now this isnt a start a argument thread. It has nothing to do with canisters, Or your opinion of hob filters or aqua clear filters. So if you could stop derailing my thread that would be great. And for the record we all have our personaull preferences for filters. And i would say that two ac110 that are filled like this is more then efficent on the 75 there on.

Any thread that is about a flaw in the design (which this obviously is) is definitely going to end up starting arguments. I wouldn't worry about it.

I have a 110 that cracked in the exact same spot. It wasn't during shipping, but it was within months of purchase.

They're simply weak there. It's clearly a design issue that they should address.

I use canisters and sumps now on everything but my growouts and QTs, but the AC110 has by far the most efficient and consistently powerful suction and that makes it an idea candidate for mechanical filtration (and surface distortion, due to the design and GPH), so it's obviously a worthwhile piece of equipment. But I'm with ACWO... it's a design flaw that they need to address. It's not your fault or UPS/USPS's fault. The filter is prone to breaking in that exact spot. They need to reinforce that entire area that hangs over the tank.

Same problem. I had my ac110 crack within a month of purchase at the same point. I thought my tank was leaking at first. I used gorilla glue to patch it up.
