Hello all, I have a 75g tank with 2 oscars. A LFS by me has some datnoid's and, I wonder if I could keep the two toghether? And how long? The datnoid and the oscars, are the same length. (4in)

for a while yeah. The oscars are gonna outgrow the dat though.
Well, to put it up strait Dat > Oscar :) But yeah, i'll buy a coople of dats, but for the next wittle bit its going to be just the 2 oscars.

EDIT: While im at it, what's a good breed of them to buy, and whats the length of a "standard" dat, are they freshwater or brackish??

go for indo they are in the market beautiful fish i think they get to be 16 inchs or so
and arnt shy at all atleast the ones iv seen and kept

they can hold there own agenst agressive fish there size but do grow slow so most fish will soon be to big to keep together

K thx, but are they brackish?

Indo's are fresh water. I believe the AT is the only brackish water dat and they can be converted.

Ok thanks very much guys, im might be going to get some today w/ my dad...He wants fish for a 10g we have -.-"

Yeah, I know. I was suppose to get a 130g, but due to the recession...Well put the pieces toghether.

two oscars and a couple dats in a 75 gallon? You'll need to upgrade your tank very soon.

at 4" .. its going to take a bit for the O's to out grow that .. and the dats could live in a 75 for a long time ..

dats grow painfully slow .. o's on the other hard .. grow quite fast .. but at 4" you should be safe for a little while ..
