So I recently set up a 180g tank and am not thrilled with my current stand. I've decided to build a new one using 2x6's for the frame and three 2x4's for each leg and plywood on the bottom.
Now as for bracing in the center I was considering using 2x6's as well with the goal of having easier access to my sump than the current stand allows.
Will putting screws in at an angle to hold the 2x6's (shown below) in place bare the weight of the 6' tank across the front of the stand? I plan to use two pieces all across the back of the stand but if I can get away with just the two single 2x6's it would make removing the sump if need be as well as regular maintenance much easier.
The gaps in the front are approxamently 25.5" and please keep in mind the stand's "bare bones" are obviously not finished.
Thanks.
