ok so about 2 weeks ago my texas cichlid witch by the way is a femail turned 3/4 black, so i did a little bit of reserch and everything i read said that ment that she wanted to breed so i today i put a male in there, Does this colorization mean she wants to breed? if not what does it mean?
PS its started to lose its coloring like 10 min after i put the male in does that mean there a pair? or is ther some eggs in there im missing?

Its her genitalia directly in front of her anal fin. When her tube drops You can't miss it. It'll look swollen and she'll be cleaning house with the male if they paired. Otherwise use a divider if necessary and then work em. By allowing supervised visits til They are cool with each other. That way you can protect them both from injury or killing each other. And if that doesn't work try another suitor and repeat process till you don't need divider. In some cases female will breed thru divider.this works too where the make is just too aggressive And you are forced to use divider. Good luck

yeah breeding colors for "texas" (is it cyano or carpintis) are the back half of the body turns black as well as the bottom half of their face and the upper half turns a whitish color, if this is the color she was turning then yes it means she is ready to breed but since you just added the new male the pair wont necessarily form instantly so now she is worried about protecting her tank from the new intruder but once they get used to each other there shouldn't be any issues with them pairing, cyano and carpintis are usually not that hard to pair up
