Would it be possible to have 3 aro's living together in harmony (of course I am referring to them being in the same tank...)

Along similar lines, what's the minimum size tank that they can be housed in for life (again, assuming they are all in the same tank...)?

silvers? doubt it but possible. If they pair up they might kill the outher one. But i would think like 1000+ gallons?

Certainly, it might depend on your definition of harmony though. :)

ok then let's define harmony...w/o killing or brutally maiming eachother...I've heard that they should be housed solo or in groups of 5+. I just don't understand why it can't be 3+ to reduce aggression as a pair will fight for dominance...

Very good. If that's what you are willing to accept ie. the occasional nip, sometimes frayed fins, perhaps a missing scale or two, then yeah it's quite possible to have a comm of 3. I have done it with a comm of 2 for 5 years before they died due to a accident. There is no magic number for success in a comm. It helps to remember that it also boils down to the individual aros temperament. Some are just plain docile. Others would kill anything in sight.

Here in Asia, we use various tricks to lessen the fights. For example, we would provide other species of fishes (fast swimming) to distract the aros, use a power head to create a strong current in the tank etc. Hope this helps.

I'll try a powerhead. I plan on putting the aros in a tank with clown knives and a rtcXtsn. What size of a powerhead do you recommend? I plan on housing them in a 300-400 gal...

I don't know what sorts are available in the states but something strong enough yet not uncomfortable for the fish if u get what I mean. We also recommend using some black water. It calms the fishes down. Don't ask me why thought, it just works hehehe.

Almond tree leaves also help alot, you could probably do 3 with a nip everynow and then. i have 2 in my tank and they nip every now and then. but im hopeing ones a male and ones a female and will pair off later on...
