I can't get my 3" baby delhezi to eat anything! He just lies at the bottom hardly moving, then burst to the surface to get air, but that's about it. I've tried frozen blood worms and shrimp pellets, but still no dice. He's in a ten gallon holding tank with gravel. I'm trying to get him as big as fast as possible so when I put him in my 125g tank the arowana won't swallow him whole. He is as thick as a pencil and only about 3" long. Help please and thanks!

If he is brand new, like you got him in the last 3 days, this is normal. My Del when I first got him would not touch blood worms, earth worms, anything. But he did eat a cichlid sinking gold pellet the second night, probably because of the strong smell. Try something really strong smelling, goodluck!

what I did was catch the baby bichir and put him in a plastic breeding trap and drop some food in there, after resting for a few minutes he noticed the food and went for it. sometimes I think they are just suspicious, but as long as there is food there they will start eating eventually.

you are correct. At first it freaked me out cuz i thot he had a fluke worm or a damaged gill, but then i read on and it said it was normal. Interestingly enough, it's only his right gill.

Mine when I first got it only had little nubs left, but now they are fully extended. I think when stressed they can retract them. Yours being so small I bet it grows them again.

It will eventually go away, I would say earthworms, silversides, and high quality pellets, not only for best growth but also longivity, Im highly against live.
