Sorry I'm not in this section, but i just curious, why does the 3 bar more expensive than the other?

Because some people are willing to pay more to have a fish that looks like an ST but will never be an ST. Indo is an indo no matter how many bars

......then there are people who are just simply getting sucked up into the hype

Well said J.

Well said J.The same could be asked as to why people are willing to pay more for a fish that is a different color than the norm for that particular species.

I feel color is different then one single stripe difference.
You show a standard JD next to an electric blue JD to a non-fishkeeper will immediately notice the difference, and you'll most likely get a "Wow!", but you do the same thing between a 3 bar and a 4 bar, they will won't notice the difference.....and after you explain it to them, they will be dumbfounded why you were willing to pay so much more for this.

Hell....I'm an avid fish keeper, and I'm perplexed as to why people are willing to pay so much, but I get that its "in the eyes of the beholder"

Good example but both cases are still variations of a particular fish species appearance.

Yeah, but its like explaining to someone that you paid 5X the money for a fish because it has an extra swim bladder.....there's no immediate visual gratification, since you have to be cued to look for the anomaly

Now that's not as good an example as your previous try but I digress...there is immediate visual gratification in both cases but it depends on the tastes or preferrence of the owner.

Yep, I absolutely get that, and that's what I'd already stated
