3 gallon aquariums

I have a 5gal, planted with 6 male endler/guppy hybrids, red cherry shrimp and lots of nerite snails (came with plants). Have 2 Whisper 3's (one on each side) that still have the original filter pads - just rinse them in dechlorinated water every couple of weeks when I check the filters for shrimp babies. It's been running about 4 months during which time I've only had to do one WC. No cover on it so I top up about 1/3 gal per day. The shrimp and snails keep the tank clean and the plants keep the nitrates down. Lighting is a clip on reading lamp with a 60w bulb for about 6 hours a day and some blue led 'betta lights' for effect at night.
I have a 3.5 gallon with a zebra danio, which was left over from cycling my 225g over a year and a half ago. The next occupants of that tank will most likely be a couple African dwarf frogs, but I'm not going to buy them until my danio dies.
