Hey guys i just set up a 3 gallon nano tank about 3 weeks ago , all is doing well , ive got a sebae anomone and clown and some button polyps. ive just noticed today a little brown algae on the sand , the tank has a compact florescent light above it and a mini power filter, i think the tank is by JLB if im thinking correctly, what im wanting to know is how often should i do water changes on this tank and as far as chemicals for the tank as well as the anomone what should i be putting in and how much of it. im used to my 29 gallon so im not real sure how little i should put in and how much of a water change and how often!

Good cod my man.

An anemone AND a clown in a 3 gallon? :nilly:

Wow...

That has bad news written all over it.

because why??!! i asked for advise, i was just at aquarium adventures where i purchased the tank and they had this tank full of live rock ,polyps a clown . and it was fuller than the pics i have on my profile here

That's a maroon clown. They get big.
They need a big tank, about 10x as big as your tank.
The anemone needs EXCELLENT water conditions, and as far as I know, not many people have had success keeping Sebaes alive in the home aquarium, let alone a 3gallon pico.
The button polyps are fine for the tank.
I would take the clown and the anemone out and put in a couple inverts and MAYBE a small goby like a watchman...
But that's pushing it. Really, you can't do much with a 3 gallon.

The tank is too small for an anemone. Water qaulity has a tendency to be much more volatile in small aquariums, and the tank is too young for an anemone. Typically, a tank should be 6 months or older before you start tinkering with them, regardless of how mature the live rock is.

Sebaes are one of the more difficult ones to keep as well.

I hope it works out for you.

This would all work in the 29 that you mentioned (the buttons are fine as mentioned). Quite frankly, I am amazed this lasted in a 3 for 3 weeks and still is. The sebae I have never had, but seeing how other anemones require an established tank, would imagine the same.

I would do a one gallon change once a week, and not worry about supplementation.

That being said, you need to make sure that your water is almost identical to the water in the tank in every regard. Temperature, ph, salinity, etc as to not shock and kill your nem.

Best of luck comrade.

interested to see how this one turns out. we need an sticky on why an anemone shouldnt be bought for small/unestablished/unexperienced tanks and their respective caretakers. It seems that almost all the new tanks on here ATM have an anemone..
