This is my first post so I appologize if I have posted this in the wrong area. I am buying my daughter a 3 gallon Spongebob tank, and I was wondering what fish I can put in there. I am trying to skip goldfish, but what about like fancy guppies or something? She would prefer to have more than one fish if possible.

I would cycle the tank first before getting any fish. There are lots of sources about cycling the tank. The only fish that comes to my mind for a 3 gallons tank are simply a male betta, a trio of male guppies or Endler's livebearers. Not all of course. You have a choice of picking which of the three options.
Thanks for the reply, I am familiar with cycling the tank, but I have never had one this small. I am thinking maybe some fancy guppies, however she does like the betta's.
