Bad idea? I have 2 skinny 3 inch Delhezi's in a 20gallon but i would like to put them with my 3 Senegals with the largest being Alil over 7 inches and about as fat as a nickel or so..Think thay would be ok or?

i would b a risk it depends on ur polys im getn away wit it rite now but i kno its a risk and most people wont take that risk

IMO/IME No, keep the delhezis in the 20gal until they bulk up. My Endli had not eaten in four days because my Senegal would steal food and blindly nip at my Endli. I had to move him....So I should stay wait

not only will they most likely get eaten, if they arent they will never get food and starve

My experience has been the same as machines. You have to know your bichirs, some are inclined to eat smaller bichirs, others don't care and prefer prepared food.

In any case, it's not worth the risk unless you have no other options.

I've always just stuck smaller bichirs in. I've had differences like the one you're describing, but they seem to not eat each other. If you already have them in a separate tank, just wait a month and the babys will be ready to go in with the big boys.

i've kept bichirs together some 3-4" with 9-11 inchers. they are just fine. i didn't see any cannibalism.

I put a baby delhizi (~4") in with my 8" senegal. My senegal wasn't outwardly aggressive, but they stayed away from eachother. He got plenty of food when feeding time came around. The poor little bugger was scared to death all the time though, so he was always hidden in the plants. He lasted about 2 months, then one day he was dead. I don't know if he died in a fight or if the angelfish started picking at him after he died, but he looked pretty beat up.
A couple quick chomps from the senegal could have done it, but I wasn't there to see it, so I don't know. Anyhow, it is risky.
I say let the delhizi's be the star of their own tank as long as they fit. Let's face it: when a tank has a bichir in it, he is the focal point.

I'm gonna wait because he did chomp my Black ghost knife 3 times which made a full recovery in the 20G.

Does anyone want a free Senegal possibly 2 roughly 7-8 inches? I'm located in Rhode Island.
