Here is the redtail. He is the calmest of them all. I picked him up to put him in the tank and he didnt move an inch and also loves to be pet like my hybrid...

The little guy. RTC x TSN hybrid. Hes smaller than mine and too cute.

& I guess ill just post the gar too. He is sooo cute lol. Except for the teeth... trying to get him in the tank was probably more of a task than all of them put together. A long slippery fish is not as easy to hold onto. & sadly my husband wont touch them. I have to do it :)

I am sorry for the dirty glass and leftover food. Doing water changes, water changes, and more water changes till a bigger pond is built. The food was just put in and only one is eating I think which would be the guy I had before... but here is another pic of what they do all day.. sit on eachother and never leave that spot until the lights go out. Even the pleco..

These guys were going to be kept in a tub with some other fish. A little plastic storage one. Im happy I got them. It was $80 for all including the pleco. Now if someone can give me an idea as how big of a pond to build, we have many stock tanks as we have a cattle ranch. Other one was too small. Unless somone in the colorado area has a huge tank for a good price lol.

Nice cats!! As for pond sizes, I'd say aim in the 1000g range. If you have a 600 or so gallon trough laying around somewhere that would be a nice place to transfer them to while you work on building the big pond.

Are the troughs the galvanized kind or are they plastic?!?!?!? If galvanized make sure you put a liner in it. The tank leeches zinc into the water and it will kill your fish. Trust me, I know from experience. Check this thread out...

We have both but we have bigger in galvanized. I planed on putting a liner in either anyways. but thank you. that thread was helpful

Nice cats u got there. Yeah I agree that at least a 1000G pond would be the bare minimum :)

Thanks.

I'd use a liner even if it was plastic because those drain plugs (if equipped) can leak eventually.

Never thought about the drain plugs.
